6.6 Game Preview
SLAMMERS RETURN FROM BYE TO FACE
FOUL, NO CATCH
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - The Oakton Slammers will will take on Foul, No Catch for the second time in franchise history. The game falls in the late game slot, with first pitch scheduled for 9:30pm.
The Slammers are coming off a much-needed bye week. The team is 0-3 on the season, but were blown out in the last game by WTP, 17-1.
The struggles at the plate continued for the Slammers, who were held without a hit in the first 3 innings before finally stringing a couple together to score their lone run in the 4th. By then, it was too little, too late.
"It starts with me," team manager and second baseman Zach Wulbert said. "It just hasn't been the start that we wanted."
The Slammers hope that the bye week served as a season reset. Their next opponent is one they've beaten before: an 11-10 victory late in the season. This season, Foul, No Catch is 2-2 and playing in close games. All have been decided by single-digit runs, and the team has a +4 run differential.
"We have a favorable schedule ahead, we just need to put it all together," bench coach CJ Zimmerman added.
Wulbert, who is on the 10-Day Injured List with a shoulder injury and will not play this week, has been a part of all the wins in Slammers' history. He'd like that to change this week: "Ya, I'd much rather have the team win than to have that statistic hold up."
Nick Sobieszczyk, the team's Director of Player Development, will step in as acting manager. "I'm ready," he responded.
SLAMMER SCRAMBLE: Oakton Slammers players participated in a scramble-style golf outing during the bye week. The team of first baseman Joshua Shirley and shortstop Jimmy Latal took home the first place trophy in a tight contest. See more highlights on the Slammers' Instagram page.
WITH A WIN: Foul, No Catch would advance to 3-2. It would be the team's first win over the Slammers in franchise history.
The Slammers would advance to 1-3, earning their fourth win in franchise history. The Slammers would also be 2-0 against a team for the first time, and Foul, No Catch would be the second team against which the Slammers have 2 wins (the other being the Hammerhogs).
SLAMMA JAMMA: The Slammers invite all fans to celebrate the late night game with a pajama party. Follow @oaktonslammers on Instagram and Twitter for more.
