Changes made to Slammers front office
FOLLOWING WULBERT'S DEPARTURE, THE SLAMMERS MAKE NEW APPOINTMENTS
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - The Oakton Slammers have restructured their front office following the departure of Zach Wulbert, making several promotions and appointments to fill open roles. Wulbert will retain his positions as Owner and President of the team, but his other roles of Chief Executive Officer, Chief Media Officer, General Manager, and Manager needed to be filled.
CJ Zimmerman, who held the titles of Chief Operations Officer, Director of Digital Media, and Bench Coach, has been promoted to a dual role of CEO and CMO for the organization. The position of COO will be eliminated.
"It's unusual for a franchise to undergo such a significant restructure in the middle of the season," Zimmerman said in his opening press conference. "This is what is best for the team right now. We have been working on this succession plan since the preseason, so the transition should be smooth."
Other promotions and appointments include:
Mike Leahy (formerly Assistant General Manager) promoted to General Manager. He also maintains his position as equipment manager.
Joshua Shirley appointed as Assistant General Manager.
Nick Sobieszczyk (formerly Director of Player Development) promoted to Manager.
Jimmy Latal appointed as Director of Player Development.
Vince Nardiello appointed as Bench Coach.
Nels Flink also maintains his position as Chief Financial Officer.
New General Manager Mike Leahy stated, "We hope to keep the Slammers franchise running well into the future, and we will work tirelessly to make this the most sought-after organization possible."
